Love Like the Father, Like Children

I think we have all heard the age-old adage, “like father, like son”. I visited my brother for the first time in a couple of years the other day and I noticed how much his kids had grown and how much they look like him. I thought to myself about the early years of children and how much just a year matures them and how much it shows the features of their parents both physically and mentally. I remember when I was a little child, how much my daddy used to sing as he poured the sweat, breaking his back logging timber. Now, to the disadvantage of the folks nearby, I sing when I am working any hard labor job. I have my daddy’s nose, my mom’s head shape, my daddy’s hair color, and unfortunately my mother’s chicken legs. We are who conceived us. We have some of their mentality, some of each one’s physical qualities, and we take on their mannerisms with maturity.

When thinking of Christians, we we’re born again spiritually, with a new Father. We we’re conceived again in heart to bear the resemblance of our Father. This generation we are in, the kids, need to know God now more than ever! How do we teach a child that God exists and He loves His creation? By taking on the nature of our Father in Heaven. Through Him, we prove the existence of God by just the act of true love alone, Consider 1 John 4:7-11, which says,

Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God; and everyone who loves is born of God. The one who does not love does not know God, for God is love. By this the love of God was manifested in us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world so we might live through Him. In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be a propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we might also love one another. (NASB)

Children, especially in this generation, need to see God in you to believe. To love is to give evidence of His existence. To not show any love toward your brother or sister, gives another evidence; that God is not in you. Let us, for the sake of losing this generation, obey the promptings of the Holy Spirit and open our hearts to giving of what we have if needed. Show God alive! Show Christ is real! Love like the Father, like children of the kingdom of God and we will prove Him. May God bless you!
